Breaking into the bar

Once I gave up on commercial soaps, shampoos were next to go. I tried the 'no poo' method of baking soda, but with my baby fine hair, it was just too drying to use regularly. Shampoo Bars were a natural progression after learning how to make soap. Shampoo Bars use many more different kinds of oils, but the benefits of them on our hair are wonderful.

My hair has always been a washed out dirty blonde, mousy even. For many years I pumped up my color with highlights and low lights, but those days are gone! My hair has revealed its true colors! Gold, red and cinnamon are the highlights that have come out since I started using my shampoo bars. Wow! I love the color! I have had people asked my if I have dyed it to get this. Nope, I'm, just no longer stripping my hair every time I shower.

As an after wash rinse I use an apple cider vinegar rinse (1 part ACV and 3 parts water) But even that isn't everyday as my hair is just too fine and gets weighed down easily.

Keep in mind that soap reacts differently to different kinds of water, hard and soft. If you live in an area where the water is very hard there are reports that the bars leave a residue as more soap is needed to get big suds. So if you have hard water keep that in mind and don't go over board. ;)

PS: Shea Butter has natural latex in it. If you have an allergy please be aware that the Shampoo bars have Shea Butter in them.

My shavers came about as an accident, I had added some Kaolin clay to lighten the color of a batch of soap I was making. I wanted to try to make a camouflage pattern. The soap was a flop and ended up all mixed together and finished in the slow-cooker, you cant win them all, But when it came time for washing up I was thrilled to discover how 'slippery' this soap was! This marked the creation of my shavers. Of course after more research I discovered what other soapers had already known, that clay makes a great slippy soap for shaving.

Now my shavers just have to be different, so mine have a nice dose of activated charcoal to act as an antiseptic too. My shavers also have developed using many different oils and butters. The lather is wonderful! Especially with clay to make it extra slippery. Shave with confidence.
